The reason that the PTA raises money is to sponsor programs that benefit the students and the school. The following programs are funded and/or operated by the PTA.
After-School Scholarships for Enrichment Programs - provides financial assistance to qualified families for participation in after-school activities.
Math Pentathlon - Math Pentathlon is an after-school mathematics club open to students in K-5. Students develop important problem-solving and critical-reasoning skills and have fun doing it. This program operated entirely by parent volunteers. It is a fee-based program. Scholarships are available to students that can't afford to pay.
Spelling Bee - The SSV PTA hosts this annual tradition which is part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Teacher Grants - The PTA offers two levels of teacher grants. Staff can apply for up to $125 per semester for items or experiences that will benefit their students. A single Annual Grant for up to $1,500 will be awarded to a teacher or group of teachers to promote innovative, hands-on educational experiences and provide engaged learning for our students.
Walk and Roll - Walk and Roll is a free program that encourages students and parents to walk, bike, car-pool and/or ride the bus to school.
